Program Overview
Orbital Studios' Internship Program is for responsible, motivated, currently enrolled students who have a strong interest in virtual production for filmmaking.
Through our internship program, students have the unique chance to work directly alongside seasoned industry professionals, gaining invaluable hands-on experience, and mentorship. Our focus is on empowering students to develop their skills and stand out in the challenging and highly competitive media & entertainment industry.
Orbital Studios is excited to announce two internship openings for the Winter 2025 term:
Production Intern
Focused on developing and testing virtual assets with our Virtual Art Department (VAD) team, and researching and testing new tools and integrations.
Candidates with experience in gaming engines like Unreal or Unity will be given priority.
Development Intern
Focused on script coverage as well as assisting our Director of Business Development with day-to-day tasks.
Training & Participation may include:
Studio Maintenance: Assisting with the setup, organization, and maintenance of virtual production studio and production equipment.
On-set Experience: Providing on-set assisting during virtual production shoots.
Shadowing Professionals: Observing and learning from experienced professionals in various roles within the virtual production company, such as stage operators, LED technicians, VAD artists, and other technical specialists.
Development: Script coverage and other industry research and reporting.

Although some projects may require physical activity, we prioritize offering reasonable accommodations and assigning roles that leverage the strengths of individuals with disabilities. We welcome applicants of all abilities and are devoted to creating an inclusive and supportive workplace.
Other benefits:
Mentorship: Each intern will have the opportunity to meet with a member of Orbital's leadership team for 30 minutes, weekly, schedules permitting. Meetings may entail technical knowledge sharing, career advice, goal setting and accountability, and career strategies for transitioning from school into the industry.
Learning Opportunities: Participating in training sessions and workshops to enhance understanding of virtual production tools, techniques, and workflows.
Location:
This internship is an on-site engagement. Students will be required to work at the studio location 2 - 3 days per week for 4-6 hours at a time. The office is located at 667 S Santa Fe Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90021.

Requirements & Expectations
Please note the following terms:
This is an unpaid internship.
Intern must make arrangements with an accredited school to receive course credit.
Interns are expected to commit 10-15 hours per week to projects and enrichment activities.
The spring and fall engagements are typically ~16 weeks, and the summer engagement is typically ~12 weeks, however the internship term is flexible and will conform to and accommodates the intern’s academic calendar and school commitments.
Opportunities to work on sets and attend screening events are not guaranteed.
Interns are not guaranteed a job at the end of the internship.
